Kirk Smock is a writer, communications specialist and sustainable tourism consultant currently living in Maputo, Mozambique. Since 2005, Kirk has primarily been working in, and writing about, the South American country of Guyana. He has authored two editions of the country’s only guidebook, Guyana published by Bradt Travel Guides, written the content for the Guyana Birding and Guyana.travel websites, published several magazine articles and has designed and written numerous newsletters, success stories, press releases and a range of marketing materials.
Kirk is presently the Sustainable Tourism Lead for the USAID Guyana Sustainable Tourism Initiative and is the Senior Writer for the USAID Guyana Trade and Investment Support Project.
Originally from Minnesota, Kirk has also lived in Guyana, Brazil, England, New York, Wisconsin and Montana. He has professional work experience in the United States, Guyana, Palestine, Brazil and England.
